This has been quite the week for game news- first off, Valve’s Steam service has been blocked for users in Malaysia in the wake of a controversial game’s latest update, a pretty big update came to Robot Roller Derby Disco Dodgeball, Destiny 2 raised eyebrows with some questionable microtransactions and Ubisoft has managed to stave off Vivendi- how much longer can the Guillemot family hold onto the company? All this and more on this week’s episode of 1RBC Gaming Weekly.
There were a couple of crowdfunding projects that caught our attention this week; the first is for a game called Full Quiet, an adventure/puzzle game that’s being developed for both the PC and the Nintendo Entertainment System- cartridge and all! It seems to apply some modern gaming sensibilities to a much older system; it looks pretty promising.
The other game that caught our eye is Griff the Winged Lion, a 3D platformer in the style of older PS1 games, such as Spyro; it seems to be banking heavily on nostalgia, but will that be enough to sell folks on the game? It certainly worked for Yooka-Laylee.
